Driving from Marrakech to Agadir: what to expect
The road
The whole drive runs on Autoroute A7, which crosses the western end of the High Atlas. After Chichaoua the motorway climbs through bare hills on long, steady gradients before descending into the Souss plain and Agadir. It's the fastest way across the Atlas — no hairpins, just wide motorway curves.
Comfort & conditions
The A7 is wide and well maintained, but fog and crosswinds can occur on the mountain section in winter. Agadir is milder and more humid than Marrakech. Many travellers continue north to Taghazout — same motorway, then a short coastal drive.
Every vehicle is air-conditioned, and your driver loads the luggage and helps with the bags at both ends.
Stops worth making
Motorway rest areas
Fuel stations and cafés along the A7 make an easy halfway break.
Souss argan country
The descent into the Souss plain is lined with argan trees — the region is a UNESCO biosphere reserve.
Agadir Oufella
The hilltop kasbah ruins above the city give the best view over the bay — a short detour before your hotel.
