Driving from Casablanca to Marrakech: what to expect
The road
From central Casablanca your driver takes the ring road to Autoroute A7 and heads south across the Chaouia plain. Getting out of the city is the slowest part, so allow extra time on weekday mornings and evenings. The motorway ends at Marrakech's northern edge, and the last stretch runs through the Palmeraie or Gueliz depending on where you're staying.
Comfort & conditions
Landing at Casablanca airport? Book Casablanca Airport (CMN) to Marrakech instead — the same fixed fare — so you skip the city entirely. Jet-lagged travellers often choose the Van for extra space to rest.
Every vehicle is air-conditioned, and your driver loads the luggage and helps with the bags at both ends.
Stops worth making
Hassan II Mosque
See the oceanfront mosque before leaving — guided tours run several times a day for non-Muslim visitors.
Settat
Halfway town on the A7 for a coffee or lunch break.
Marrakech Palmeraie
The palm grove on Marrakech's northern edge, home to many resort hotels.
Private driver vs. train, bus and grand taxi for Casablanca to Marrakech
Private driver
Door to door in 2h 45m, with stops when you want them and a fixed price per vehicle agreed before you travel.
ONCF train
Trains from Casa-Voyageurs take roughly 2h 40m–3h, but you need a taxi to the station and another to your riad.
CTM / Supratours bus
Usually 3½ hours or more with stops, from the bus station.
Grand taxi
Shared, cramped and station to station — tiring after a long-haul flight.
